Hello Students and Parents,
This week we will be going on our much anticipated field trip to the National Infantry Museum. Please make sure that the field trip permission form has been submitted if you want to attend. This promises to be a rich, learning experience for all of us.
On Monday, in Language Arts, we will begin working on grammar and continue focusing on Writing Workshop for the first ten minutes of each class. The last 10 minutes or so of each class will be spent reading. Please read at home as much as you can together. Tuesday, of course, is our field trip. Then the remainder of the week, we will finish our work in grammar and reading. Spelling test is on Friday! This week's words are desert-coarse-course-guest-guessed-mist-missed-accept-except-whose.
In Georgia Studies, we'll begin our unit on the Civil War. Please bring your textbooks to class with you. Tuesday will be an important day for us to examine how Georgia was involved in the history of our nation. Please study your vocabulary words to help with reading assignments.
See you on Monday! :)
Mrs. Pastor

Hi Students,
This week is short, but we will be busy. We will be taking our Spelling test on Friday in ELA and finishing up our discussion on Tuesday about the elements of a story. Soon we will be starting a new story to compare to "A Wrinkle in Time". We will start our unit on Persuasive Writing and work on grammar in our handbooks. This week's spelling words are listed below. We are moving up two levels this week, because everyone has shown improvements in Reading! Please visit online sites such as Spelling City to help you prepare for your test and improve in Word Recognition.
In Georgia Studies, we'll continue our discussion and lessons on the American Revolution, the U.S. Constitution, and the formation of our early government.
SS8H4 Students will describe the impact of events that led to the ratification of the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
a. Analyze the strengths and weaknesses of both the Georgia Constitution of 1777 and the Articles of Confederation and explain how weaknesses in the Articles of Confederation led to a need to revise the Articles.
b. Describe the role of Georgia at the Constitutional Convention of 1787; include the role of Abraham Baldwin and William Few, and reasons why Georgia ratified the new constitution
We will take a Unit Review test on Friday to practice for the CRCT.
I hope you enjoyed your day off and are ready to work on Tuesday! :)
Remember Saturday school is this Saturday. We will be making Prefixes/Suffix Dictionaries! :)
